LASER HAIR REMOVAL
Laser hair reduction systems work by delivering a carefully timed pulse of laser energy to the skin, which is converted to heat energy at the hair follicle, destroying the follicle.
The underlying principle is known as selective photothermolysis: absorb light energy from the laser better than light spots. When the hair is darker than the surrounding skin, the follicle absorbs the light energy not the skin, and so it is the follicle that gets destroyed, keeping the skin unharmed.
Of critical importance is the expertise of the dermatologist in the selection and use of a laser technology for any individual. provides a greater degree of control. The energy beam can be either pulsed or continuous, depending on the requirement. And unlike the majority of medical laser devices which can only deliver one wavelength of laser light, alexandrite laser can be tuned over a range of wavelengths.
It is suited for a wide range of skin tones from light to olive.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER MY TREATMENT?
Post treatment, the hairs singe into the hair follicle staying like this for up to 10-14days, they will naturally fall out on their own leaving you with a hair free period until your next treatment. As your growth starts to come through, it becomes finer, slower and more sporadic. Slight follicle swelling, mild erythema can occur similar to a post waxing however this generally lasts for only an hour or so after your treatment. In some cases swelling and erythema can last up to 72hours however this is not too common.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO POST TREATMENT?
Sun exposure must be avoided for 1 week post treatment, no creams, moisturisers or gels on the treatment area for 1 week post treatment. If so, follicle swelling, irritation and infection can occur. We always suggest to begin exfoliating the treatment area 1 week post treatment to encourage the hair growth to fall out of the hair follice and to avoid ingrown hairs.
